Woody Lane

Rex Blazer often works with caller Woody Lane
Biography:
Woody Lane, from Roseburg, Oregon, is known
for his exciting blend of contras, squares, and percussive
dance. Calling for over 18 years, he first learned about
music and clogging while living in West Virginia, and
he has gained a national reputation for pleasing dance
crowds from Alaska to Boston, from evening dances and
weddings to intensive dance camps.
In his own words, Woody "tries to share the magic
of these wonderful dances, weaving a program that is exciting,
challenging, and always fun". His teaching is clear
and easy, and he has been on staff at Fiddle Tunes, The
Alaska Folk Festival, Raincoast Ruckus, Suttle Lake, and
Bear Hug. Woody is also known for his precise and innovative
stepdancing -- he was one of the founders of the well-known
"Limberjacks" clogging troupe in Ithaca, New
York -- he will often add his rhythms to the band while
he calls. Woody has toured extensively with Rex, and adds
the percussive element when he clogs and stepdances while
calling the dance.
